Nursery to class II

Our focus at the Pre-Primary and Primary level is to make the transition between the secure home environment and formal schooling, interesting and as smooth as possible for the child. Emphasis is on nurturing the child’s imagination, creativity and providing him opportunities to express himself freely. At HMPS the concept of Mother Teacher is implemented up to class II. It will help in the following ways.

  • Developing the need based teaching methodology for children to generate interest.
  • Understanding the child and developing a support between the learner and facilitator.
  • Helps in better understanding of various development stages of the child especially cognitive and emotional.
  • An insight into child’s behavioural problems observed by the facilitator.
  • Both the learner and teacher spend more time with each other and the facilitator. , at the end of session on maintaining the growth graph and accomplishing the set target as per the child’s potential.

 

Classes III to V

The role of Primary education is to ensure the broad-based development of our students. This means ensuring that all the students are able to develop their cognitive, social, emotional, cultural and physical skills to the best of their abilities, preparing them for their further school career. The important aim at this level is the learning of basics and forming a sound foundation which will enable the child to study more complex topics and problems at the succeeding levels. The emphasis is on usage an application, the focus is on developing scientific aptitude and creativity. The co-curricular activities allow them not only to gain confidence but also help them realize their potential in various fields.

Classes VI to VIII

Middle school is a time of transition for students where an activity based learning environment in the primary section is transformed into a stage where teaching methodology is completely focussed on the pursuit of knowledge and development of understanding and skills necessary to interpret experience. Students prepare themselves for Junior college and beyond. Our middle school curriculum provides and promotes a learning environment based upon developmental readiness, needs and interests. Speaking and learning skills, presentation skills, practical skills, and all the co-scholastic areas are assessed as per the CBSE guidelines.

The course of studies are based on CBSE guidelines. Various combinations of subjects are offered so that students can pursue their desired course of study. Equal importance and assistance is given to prepare students for the prescribe CBSE syllabus as well as preparing students for various competitive exams.

Pedagogy

HMPS follows the NCERT curriculum and CBSE pattern of examination and evaluation. The curriculum of the school has been rationally conceived with the aim to bring the child into the centre and to help him grow through the graded phases of development, physical, mental, emotional and social. The HMPS system of education uses efficient and interactive methods which incorporates new technology such as demonstrations, hands on activities and Smart class for teaching the students.

The syllabus of classes is based and focuses on the needs of the students and changing conditions of society. The curriculum emphasises on the theoretical study of branches of knowledge as well as nourishes the creative imagination of the child, develops free thinking, reasoning and judgement. The syllabus lays stress on the principles of correlation and coordination. The school has facilities for all CBSE practical’s and activities.

The school provides variety of optional subjects that include Information Technology, Urdu, Sanskrit, Physical Education and Hindi.

In such a well planned educational system, opportunities are provided at every level to the students for the exercise of their reflective powers, artistic abilities and practical work.

Elementary School

Nursery, KG-I, KG-II and class I the elementary school adopts a non-formal approach to learning. Children here are encouraged to explore the environment while also being taught basic concepts in language, mathematics, art and craft, etc. Activities at this level are designed to develop fine motor skills and enhance sensory development with an integration of physical education through trained personnel. In a nurturing environment they would develop an awareness of themselves as responsible and capable learners for the first time. In the elementary school there are no examinations. Teachers evaluations and assessments are continuous and ongoing and are deemed sufficient to mark student’s progress.

Junior School

Spanning classes II-V, the junior school is the child’s introduction to full day school. This stage of school aims to build on the child’s growing spirit of discovery and exploration. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of mathematical concepts and scientific fundamentals. The children are encouraged to develop good study habits and a love for learning. There are no formal tests in Junior school. Appraisal of a child’s progress is based on Continuous Assessment and day to day observation in the class, work sheets, participation in activities, CW and HW.

Middle School

Comprising classes VI to VIII, this stage sees the introduction of a third language, Sanskrit and Urdu as well the detailing of history, geography physics, chemistry and biology as subjects and all the excitement of their first examination.

Assessment

A regular assessment of student’s work is considered crucial in the educational process. Progress is discussed with both parents and students. In Elementary and Junior school the assessment is based on class work, homework, projects, worksheets and detailed progress reports made by the teacher. While in the middle school, we follow (formative) continuous assessments throughout the year, there are two summative assessments, one in each term. Senior school assessments have been organised following the Council guidelines.

Examinations

Exams are the way to test student’s knowledge. Exams and test help the student’s concentrate in their studies, learn their lessons properly and to enhance the real skills, talents and knowledge. It is the way to express their real knowledge and ability in the written form. It teaches a lot of things and gives training on various things like punctuality, writing skills, and timing sense, expressing our thoughts and opinions and so on. In the senior school we have regular exams Continuous Assessment, Half Yearly, Periodic tests and finals.
